  • Although approximately 40 percent of sport and physical activity participants are women, only 6 to 8 percent of total media sports coverage is devoted to their athletics. Source
  • Women’s quit rate in technology exceeds that in other science and engineering fields: 56 percent of women in technology companies leave their organizations at the mid-level point (10-20 years) in their careers. Source
  • Women hold only 5 percent of clout positions in publishing, telecommunications, entertainment, and advertising. Source

Progress in the world comes from individuals that share the world. But Individuals CANNOT SOLVE WHAT WE DO NOT KNOW. If women do not know the statistics that relate to women (say, in their industry or community)  … if women are not conscious of or do not care to learn the reality, speak up and take action … if women do not represent and champion women in even the smallest way, how does progress happen?

On Friday, June 5th at S.H.E. Summit, don’t miss the panel Where Are the Women? A Look at Industries: Sports, Tech, Media & Beyond featuring bold speakers who are breaking barriers and thriving in male-dominated industries:
