A Heartfelt Invitation
Warning: this is not a warm and fuzzy email but it does include some “heart truths” for us busy women to be aware of!
Did you know that more than 42.7 million women are currently living with some form of cardiovascular disease? Or that heart disease is the #1 killer of American women. Another fact: often families in most need of medical and financial assistance are single mothers who are either receiving treatment themselves, or are the mothers of children undergoing transplants.
My friend Michelle Javian, co-founder of Harboring Hearts, has been educating me on some of these facts and whyheart disease is a women’s issue. In 2008, Michelle lost her father after a heart transplant and the experience propelled her to launch a nonprofit dedicated to providing heart patients and their families with a home-like haven and a nurturing community of resources. When she asked me to co-chair her first NYC Gala on May 22nd – I felt honored to support her mission and help spread the word.
As we approach Stroke Awareness Month – my intention is 1. for us to get educated on some heart facts and 2. consider attending Harboring Hearts Spring Gala on May 22nd!
